The Sun bows

Thursday, May 27, 2010

The sun is very proud. He is loud, and obnoxious, and thinks everything revolves around him. People have never helped his ego, they've worshipped him, given him names, built shrines to him. The people lie outside and soak up in his "gift to the world." Sure, melanoma is a great gift. Happy Birthday grandpa, he's some skin cancer! The sun and the moon have a bit of a love-hate relationship. By love-have I mean, the moon loves and the sun hates. Another of his brilliant qualities. What else do you expect from an obligation marriage, opposites don't always attract. Anyway, the sun always thinks his part of the world is better and people begin to listen. They don't appreciate the night, they think things do not happen at night, but night is just as beautiful as day. Some say its even better. Every night the moon looks down upon a quiet world where hidden beauties come out. She sees the beauty that comes with silence. The animals, so adapted to the glow she gives Earth. The ocean, following her like a lowly solider following his commander. Her and the stars watch as the quiet fairness of the world in darkness emerges. The poor moon, quiet and lovely, has been shot down by her husband. That is what over confident people do, the kill the meek. She loves and respects her husband and never thinks badly of him. Except as one part of the day, her only enjoyment, sunset. She watched as the sun bows to her and leaves to let her reign the night. The sun bows as pain vibrates through him and finally leaves the sky. The sun is very proud. But even the proud must bow to the quiet strength of the passive.
